Scholarships to Young Artistes

1. The Ministry of Culture invites applications from Indian nationals for award of Scholarships to Young Artistes for the year 2008-09.
2. Under this Scheme, a total of 400 Scholarships are awarded each year to Young Artistes in different cultural fields in
1. Indian Classical Music,
2. Indian Classical Dance,
3. Theatre;
4. Visual Arts and
5. Folk, Traditional and Indigenous Arts.

The selected awardees will be required to undergo advanced training on a full-time basis for two years under a reputed Guru/Institute within one month of the award of Scholarship.

As the Scholarships are awarded for advanced training, the candidate should have undergone a minimum of 5 years training with their Gurus/Institutes. The Certificates to this effect in Part II of the Proforma duly signed by the present Guru/Institute and former Guru/Institute (if any) should be submitted alongwith the application. The Scholarship carries a value of Rs.2000/- per month and is tenable for a period of two years which is not extendable. the value of the scholarship is likely to be revised to Rs.5,000/- per month. Artistes in the age group of 18-25 (eighteen to twenty five) years as on 1.4.2008 are eligible to apply.
