2. The value of each fellowship shall be Rs.8,000/- p.m. for the initial period of two years and Rs.9,000/- per month for the third year.
In addition a contingency grant of Rs.5,000/- per year will be sanctioned for each fellowship. DA and CCA etc. would not be payable to JRFs.
However, HRA and medical benefits, as admissible to the Central Government Employees are allowed to JRFs. The fellowship amount will be taken as the basic pay for this purpose.
The fellowship shall be tenable for a maximum period of three years. However the host institutions should review the progress after 2 years for extension.
Extension beyond 3 years for one more year may also be considered and granted under exceptional circumstances.
The fellow will have to get himself registered for Ph.D. Degree within a period of one year after the award of the Fellowship failing which the fellowship is liable to be terminated with costs
The fellowships are open to Indian Nationals, preferably below the age of 30 years, who have obtained 1st Class (marks 60% and above) in Masters Degree in any one of the following subjects:
Physics/Chemistry/Biochemistry/Anthropology/Zoology/MolecularBiology/Mathematics (with Physics as one of the subjects at the Bachelors degree level)/Bio-Technology/Microbiology/Computer Science/Computer Engineering/ Forensic Science/Forensic Psychology/Toxicology or M.Phil in the same subjects whichever is the essential qualification for the award of Ph.D. Degree of a recognized Indian University.
Twenty percent of the total number of fellowships is reserved for suitable Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/OBC candidates.
5. Centres for Attachment:-
Fellowships in Forensic Science will be awarded only to those candidates who are willing to pursue research work leading to Ph.D. degree at any of the following Laboratories of this Directorate in the subjects mentioned against them:-
6. Applicants who have been short-listed for appearing in interview as per the merit criteria will be paid to and fro Rail/Bus journey charge in second class/sleeper class.
Application in the prescribed form at Annexure - ?A? & ?B? should be sent to the concerned laboratory as per the centre mentioned at para 5 above in the related areas of specialization in which the applicant wants to pursue Ph.D. studies.
The cover should be superscribed as "Application for Junior Research Fellowship in Forensic Science" so as to reach the concerned laboratory within 30 days of publication of this advertisement.
If a candidate is already working in a University or Government Institute, he/she should apply through proper channel. Every application shall be accompanied by the following documents: -
a). Copy of the Matriculation or School leaving certificate in support of age;
b). Copies of all degrees, diplomas or certificates alongwith mark sheets, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer of the Central or State Govt. or by the Head of the Institution.
c). Copies of the published work, if any. Originals should not be sent. The originals shall, however be sent, if the Directorate of Forensic Science (MHA) so require.
d). If the candidate belongs to Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe, he/she should send certificate in evidence of caste.
e). Copy of the certificate of having qualified NET/GATE examination for Fellowship (if any).
Junior Research Fellowship Scheme in Forensic Science in the Directorate of Forensic Science
