Vel’s University offers Two New MBA Programmes
Vels University, Chennai, has launched two new management programmes – a five – year integrated MBA and a two – year MBA in international travel and tourism.
The five – year integrated MBA is an indigenous programme offered by Vels. The international travel and tourism programme is offered in association with Kuoni India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Kuoni Travel Group, Switzerland.
Applications for both the programmes are available online and can also be obtained by post or in person. A pass in Plus Two or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent marks is the eligibility for seeking admission to the integrated MBA programme.
Graduates of any discipline with minimum 50 per cent marks are eligible to apply for the international travel and tourism programme. Eligible students will be selected based on a group discussion and personal interview. The last date for submission of completed applications form is 31st July, 2012.

Research Activities in Vel’s University
Vel’s University has encouraged research in many ways such as by providing starter grants and by giving support and incentives to do research and publish research articles in national and international journals which have high impact factors.
So far their faculty members have published 242 articles with an average impact factor of 1.07.
The students and faculty members from electronics and communication engineering have come with two different products and many more are in the pipeline.
They are easy vehicle monitoring survillence, integrated smart school / college transport system and aircon outfit for two wheelers riders.
Recognising the research activities of the university, DIT, government of India has provided a grant of 71.41 lakh to the department of management studies to establish IPR Cell.
The cell is there to facilitate students of Tamil Nadu to file patents. This year the cell has identified 12 such products to be patented and the university is shortly going to file patents for three products.
