TAHDCO provides Free Training for SC / ST Students to take Bank Exams

Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing Development Corporation (TAHDCO) will offer free training programme to over 1,000 students from socially backward communities to face competitive exams in the banking sector (clerical / probationary officers), said its General Manager, Harikrishna Pillai, on Thursday.

TAHDCO has roped in Career Launcher India Ltd. as its implementing partner for this programme aimed at equipping unemployed SC / ST youth to face the competitive examinations with confidence.

The course was being offered at a subsidised rate and the State government would pay Rs. 3,000 per candidate, Mr. Pillai told.

The six - week programme comprised 32 classroom sessions, each of two hours' duration, five mock tests and personality development session for interview preparation.

The programme would begin in Chennai by the first week of August when 200 students would be trained.

It would include training in all the modules such as mathematics, English, general knowledge, puzzle reasoning, marketing and computers.

V.V. Vinod, Business Head - Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Career Launcher India, said : "For the last 15 years, we have been offering training to students on several subjects.

This is the first time we have joined hands with the State government to offer free training to SC / ST students. Even other students can join this training programme. They have to pay Rs. 5,500 per person."

According to him, the selection process for the programme would be conducted in Chennai on 24th July, 2010 and 31st July, 2010, followed by Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchi in the coming weeks.

Only those students, who had passed plus two exams, could appear for the written test. The venue and timing details would be communicated to the all the students, who register for the written test.

"This is only a beginning. We might extend free training programmes for our students in other categories such as insurance and railways.

The prime objective of TAHDCO in organising this programme is to achieve and sustain increases in the income levels of the SC / STs, especially those living below the poverty line.

Based on the success of this programme, we intend to reach out to more and more students from the socially backward community in the State," Mr. Pillai said.
