SVVU bonds Scientists and Farmers

For the first time since its establishment five years back, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) has brought farmers, cattle owners, field veterinarians and veterinary scientists on to a single platform to facilitate exchange of ideas.

At the 'face - to - face' organised at the veterinary auditorium here on Monday, scientists from the five veterinary colleges in Tirupati, Hyderabad, Gannavaram, Proddatur and Korutla and the seventeen research stations scattered across the State converged to clarify the doubts of the progressive farmers, who were also brought from all the districts.

Vice - Chancellor Mohammad Hafeez expressed hope that the two - day session would be of great use to people engaged in cattle, buffalo, sheep, pig, poultry and fish rearing.

Keeping in view the convenience of participants from Telangana, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, the event would be held in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Tirupati respectively from next year.

Director of Extension P.V.V. Satyanarayana Reddy, in - charge Dean M. Ranganath and Principal Chandrasekhara Rao addressed the farmers' queries on production, fertility, surgery, general health and gynaecology.

G. Somasekharam, Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, Chittoor, sought training for the field veterinarians on infertility, fodder development, climatic conditions and the precautions to be taken to tackle anthrax.
