State urged to take over Pharmacy College
Several organisations and dignitaries of the City came together to send a joint memorandum to the State Revenue Minister demanding the State Government to take over the Pharmacy College situated at Mohuda near the City.
Berhampur MLA RCC Patnaik, President and Secretary of the Ganjam Bar Association, Utkal Sammilani, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Ganjam Zilla Vikas Manch, Working Pharmacists Association, Sarpanch of Mohuda were among the persons and organisations that made this request.
The group that made the request pointed out that in every State there is at least one Government managed Pharmacy College. But there were none in Orissa.
The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPS), Mohuda which was established in 1979 as a cooperative endeavour is now suffering from severe management problems. It was established through the joint efforts of the Orissa chapter of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Berhampur municipality and Ganjam - Phulbani Chemists and Druggists' Association (GPCDA). Since its inception the GPCDA used to play a major role in its management.
