Harvard Business School offers new Program for Professional Service Firms

Harvard Business School (HBS) and the HBS India Research Center (IRC) will offer a new executive education programme in India in July. It is called Managing and Transforming Professional Service Firms - India.

Managing and Transforming Professional Service Firms - India will explore key drivers of profitability and is for senior executives who are responsible for defining and executing strategy for their company.

"We are looking forward to offering this programme for the first time in India and sharing the latest strategies for building and managing a highly profitable professional service organisation with the participants," said Thomas DeLong, Philip J Sternberg Professor of Management Practice and faculty chair of the programme. "Our programme will equip leaders with skills to help leverage their human capital," he added.

The programme was developed specifically for professional service companies in industries such as financial services, legal, accounting and IT. Leaders of these organisations face a challenge unique to professional service firms in leading the external, client-facing responsibilities while also managing service professionals within their organisations.

"Executives will leave the programme with greater insight and new skills that they can quickly implement in their firms," remarked professor DeLong. "This programme will provide not only conceptual thinking on professional service firms but practical ways to compete and excel".

As with all HBS executive education programmes, Managing and Transforming Professional Service Firms - India will replicate the world-renowned HBS learning experience with classes taught by members of the School's senior faculty using the HBS case method. This requires participants to make decisions about real business situations and professional networks long after the programme concludes.
