Strive to excel in Academics Students told
It was a pep talk meant to instil enthusiasm and bolster morale of the fresh batch of students at IIIT Nuzvid on the eve of the commencement of their classes.
In an interactive session with the fresh batch on Monday, Vice – Chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) R.V. Raja Kumar said the students must strive hard to excel in academics, particularly because the State had high expectations from them. He explained to them about the objective of the three IIITs established under RGUKT (the other two IIITs are at Basara in Adilabad and at Rajiv Knowledge Valley in Kadapa).
Prof. Raja Kumar said the students should not only be indebted to the State for catering to all their requirements on the campus, but feel responsible to contribute to development of themselves, of their families, of the State, the nation and society at large.
Earlier, talking to the 2nd year PUC students and the batch which has entered engineering course, Prof. Raja Kumar delved into the engineering curriculum, how it is planned and packaged.
He also answered their inquisitive questions about what was in store for them. “They have already tasted the innovative academic mechanism we have incorporated in the curriculum and they are very enthusiastic and happy about the activity around them,” he told that followed the interactive session.
Driving home the point that education was meant for learning and not merely for scoring marks, he said examinations were meant to assess how much of the learning had been accomplished.
“We want students to realise the significance of participatory learning,” he said.
Director of the institution Ibrahim Khan was also present.
