The results were declared early to help students obtain their mark sheets soon and concentrate on their college admissions, he said.
Among students who took Tamil as their first language, R. Dharani of Vidhya Vikas Higher Secondary School, Tiruchengode (Namakkal), and M. Rajeshkumar of St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Chengalpattu, secured the first rank in the State with a total of 1,182 marks each.
There has been a sharp increase in the number of centums this year, particularly in Mathematics. The number has more than doubled, from 1,568 last year to 3,852 this year.
As many as 60 students have scored full marks in Computer Science, as compared to none last year. Physics, Chemistry and Biology have 282, 306 and 153 centums respectively.
A total of 739 candidates have scored centums in Accountancy and 291 in Business Mathematics.
The mark sheets will be made available in schools before May 21.
