Hanseo University Volunteers visit KIIT, KISS of Orissa

A 20 – member student volunteer group from Hanseo University, South Korea visited KIIT and KISS.

The volunteers, who arrived here on 20th July, 2010, visited different campuses and interacted with the students.

This is the third visit of student – delegates from Hanseo University to KIIT and KISS as per the MoU signed between KIIT and Hanseo University.

It provides student exchange and faculty development program and to promote cultural exchange between the two countries.

During the 10 – day visit, the volunteers participated in social and cultural activities at KISS, like plantation, assisting for the preparation of the dinner for KISS students and game practice with the students of KISS, and vocational training like hair cutting and taekwondo training etc.

Their activities also included interaction with KIIT students and a day – long rural area visit to Kalarabanka, a model village developed by A. Samanta, founder of KIIT & KISS.

Hanseo University has taken up the responsibility to build a tailoring unit at Kalarabanka.

The Korean students also visited tourist places like Puri and Konark. By this, Odisha now became a prominent tourist place in the fame of tourism among the world. Hanseo student – delegates were felicitated at a function held at KIIT.

According to sources, Dr. Samanta signed an MoU in South Korea and as per the agreement 150 to 200 Korean students will visit KIIT and KISS every quarter for learning English and Odissi dance.

This way, about 500 Korean students will visit KIIT and KISS every year.

Dr. Samanta expressed his gratitude to Dr. Ki Sun Haam, founder and chairman of Hanseo University for extending helping hand in social service.

The visit will further strengthen the relations between the two universities and increase awareness about cultures of the two countries among the students, said Dr. Samanta.

Honour for Founder

Hanseo University has conferred the Honorary Doctorate Degree on Dr. Samanta. He was conferred this honour for integrating quality education with human values and social service.

KIIT has established itself as a centre of excellence in professional education, while KISS is the biggest tribal residential institute in the world.

Dr. Ki Sun Haam, Founder and Chairman of Hanseo University presented the Degree to Dr. Samanta at the university convocation on 15th July, 2010. S.R. Tayal, Indian Ambassador to Korea, was the chief guest.
