Engineering College Teachers demand AICTE Pay Scale
Engineering college teachers, who have been pressuring the State Government to implement the revised AICTE pay scale, will meet on June 22 to decide the next course of action.
Speaking to The Hindu after a meeting of the Federation of Engineering College Teachers’ Associations of Karnataka in Bangalore on Saturday, federation president S. Vidyashankar said that the evaluation of second, fourth and sixth semester answer scripts was scheduled to begin on June 25. “On June 22, we will meet and decide whether we should boycott the evaluation work,” he said.
Though the Centre notified the AICTE pay scale in March this year and several States, including Tamil Nadu and Assam, had implemented it, the State Government was dragging its feet. Just as they had implemented the UGC scale, they should implement the AICTE pay scale, Dr. Vidyashankar said.
The meeting took exception to the recent appointments to the Academic Senate of the VTU.
Already, a section of the principals and professors serving in various affiliated engineering colleges of the State have taken exception to the inclusion of several members in the newly constituted Academic Senate.
