Vellore: The World Community Service Centre (WCSC), Chennai, has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the three universities for conducting a course in “ Human Excellence” It signed agreement with the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi, the Avinshilingam Deemed University, Coimbatore and the University of physical Education and sports, Chennai, according to SKM, Maeilanandhan, president of the WCSC.
Inaugurating a training camp on “Manavalakkalai” (the art of enriching the mind) organized by the WCSC for mediapersons and their family members in Vellore distinct there on Sunday, Mr. Maeilanandhan said the State Government had already issued orders for including the Manavalakkalai in the school syllabus.
The WCSC and the Department of School Education of were currently engaged in the task of evolving the syllabus, he said.
Mr. Maeilanandhan said the basic principle behind Manavalakkalai, as enunciated by Vedadri Maharishi, the founder of the WCSC, was that physical health laid the foundation for mental peace. The art therefore involves simple exercises, which could be done every day by spending 40 minutes.
K. Perumal, who conducted the training, said one could keep the body fit only through hard work.
Any effort at keeping one’s body fit was not a selfish act, but was an act aimed at preparing one’s body to help the society, he said.
R.N. Samy, president, WCSC, Tiruvannamalai region, said Vedadri Maharishi evolved the art after deep research, M. Kalaimani, District Information and Public Relations Officer, wanted yoga to be introduced in schools.
