He said that the non-information technology graduates had plenty of job opportunities in hotel, tourism, manufacturing and retail management industries, not to mention business and entrepreneurship. Non-IT students had as many jobs as their IT counterparts.
Dr. Thiruvasagam advised the graduates to approach the university for research programmes. Opportunities for research in biotechnology, microbiology, and basic sciences were plenty and students could even obtain scholarships for pursuing their research interests. In keeping with the interests of the industry, Bharathiar University had also redesigned the curriculum for subjects, especially English, in order to make it more application oriented, he said.
