Avinashilingam University for Women conducts International Conference on July 14 to 16

The fifth edition of the international conference on 'Advances in Textiles, Nonwoven and Technical Textiles - ATNT 2008' will be held at Avinashilingam University for Women from July 14 to 16, said T K Shanmuganandham, Chancellor, Avinashilingam University for Women here on Wednesday.

Addressing the media, he said the conference is an international collaborative endeavor between the university and The Institute of Environmental and Human Health (TIEHH), Texas Tech University, USA.

The conference will focus on cutting-edge research and marketing papers spanning the entire segment of textile industry from fibre to finished fabric, non-woven, technical textiles to marketing and economics.

Chancellor said, "The theme and venue of the conference is timely as India offers enormous potential for the growth in technical textiles."

He said a recent study by researchers at Non-woven and Advanced Materials Laboratory at Texas Tech University showed that the technical textile industry's growth in the country will be in double digits for the next three to five years.

Vice-Chancellor Saroja Prabhakaran said the individuals who have played major roles in the growth of technical textile industry in India will, be presented awards during the conference.

"Nearly 500 delegates from countries like Germany, USA, UK, China, Hong Kong and Japan are expected to take part in the conference,' the Vice-Chancellor said.

N Vasugi Raaja, Reader, Department of Textiles and Clothing said those interested in presenting papers during the conference should send the abstracts before May 15.

The table-top presentation and sponsoring opportunities are also available, she added.

International professional organisations such as NDA, TAPPI (Non woven Division), Safety and Protective Products Division, Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) and Society of Dyers and Colorists (SDC-India) are the honorary sponsors of the meet, For more details about the conference visit www.atnt2008.com
