AWES Combined Written Admission Test ( CWAT ) 2016 for admission to the B.Ed Course ( 2016 – 17 ) of Army Institute of Education ( AIE ) Greater Noida and Army College of Education ( ACE ) Pachmarhi, at 15 notified examination centers in India.

AWES CWAT 2016 Exam Date : 24th April, 2016 ( Sunday )

1. Eligibility Criteria in General :

(a) The applicants must fall into one of the following categories :-

  • Wards / wives of serving Army personnel.
  • Wards / wives of Ex Army personnel granted / awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board / invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.
  • Wards / wives of Ex Army personnel who have taken discharge / release after ten years of service.

(b) Adopted / Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows :

  • Adopted Child of Army personnel adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission.
  • Step Children are eligible provided they are born out of wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army.
  • Children of Widows of Army personnel who are born as a result of second marriage with Army personnel. However, children of widows of Army personnel born out of remarriage with Non – Army personnel would not be eligible for admission.

(c) Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases :

  1. Eligibility Criteria for wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers / Army / Dental Corps Officers presently Serving with IN / IAF.
    Wards of only those Ex-Army medical officers / Army Dental officers serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years.

(d) Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS Personnel :

  1. Children of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Government of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D(Res) dated 19 Jul 89.
  2. Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
  3. Children of APS personnel who are directly recruited into APS and of those who, as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS after completing their minimum pensionable service.

(e) Eligibility Criteria for Children of MNS / TA Personnel :

  1. Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
  2. Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.

(f) AIE and ACE only

Admission in these institutions will be governed by the following :-

  • Priority of Admission for B.Ed. Colleges :
    1. All eligible candidates will be treated at par. There will be no priority or categorization.
  • 5% weight age will be given to war widows / dependent of war widows ( Army ).

(g) Definition of Dependent Children :

Dependent children are defined as sons / daughters till marriage or employment which ever is earlier.

Ineligible Candidates. The following categories of candidates are not eligible :-

  • Those who are not included in any of the categories mentioned in Para 23 above on the date of the commencement of the course.
  • A candidate who has passed any examination of a statutory university recognized as equivalent to the course in the college shall not be permitted to appear for the examination for the same course.

2. AWES CWAT 2016 Eligibility Conditions

The candidates aspiring for admission to the B.Ed. Course at Army Institute of Education must meet the eligibility criteria given below :-

Mandatory Requirement :

The applicant must fall in any of the category listed at para 23 above. Widows / war widows dependents of disabled personnel should be in receipt of regular / liberalized medical pension for being considered eligible.

AWES CWAT Educational Qualifications :

For Graduates :

(a) Candidates having passed Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Social Sciences with a minimum of 50% ( fifty percent ) marks in aggregate from a recognized University and having studied any one of the following subjects :-

  1. English
  2. Hindi
  3. Sanskrit
  4. Urdu
  5. Mathematics
  6. Civics / Political Science
  7. Geography
  8. History
  9. Economics

Note :

  1. The candidates must have passed at least two subjects out of the list of the teaching subjects for graduates. These two subjects should be available as teaching subjects in the institute / college in which the candidate seeks to take admission.
  2. The candidates who have studied either Civics ( Political Science ) or History or Geography or Economics will be eligible to take Social Sciences as one of the teaching subject.
  3. The second teaching subject can be chosen either from the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at the graduation level or 12th level.
  4. The B.Com students shall not be given Commerce / Business Studies / Accountancy / Economics as teaching subjects as these subject are not taught at the elementary and secondary level in schools.

(b) Candidates having passed Bachelor’s degree in Science with a minimum of 50% ( fifty percent ) marks in aggregate from a recognized University and having studied any one of the following subjects :-

  1. Physics
  2. Chemistry
  3. Mathematics
  4. Biology
  5. Botany
  6. Zoology
  7. Life Science

Note :

  • The candidates must have passed at least two subjects out of the list of the teaching subjects for graduate. These two subjects should be available as teaching subjects in the institute / college in which the candidate seeks to take admission.
  • The candidates who have passed a paper either in Physics or Chemistry or Biology or Botany or Zoology or Life Science will be eligible to take Integrated Science as one of the teaching subjects.
  • The second teaching subject can be chosen either from the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at the graduation level or 12th level.

(c) Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and / or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences / Social Sciences / Humanity, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization In Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the program.

(d) However, the candidates having done B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Lib, M.Lib, BA ( Vocational ), BJMC / MJMC / B.Pharma / BCA / MCA / BBA / MBA / PGDMB / BPT / MPT / BHMCT /MBBS / BHMS / B.Arch / LLB / LLM and any other technical degree which does not come under Conventional School System* are not eligible for the B.Ed. Program.

* Conventional School System reference to clause (d) above refers to the subjects which are taught at the elementary, secondary, and senior secondary stage in schools.

The candidates whose subjects do not come under the purview of the conventional subjects’ scheme such as Electronics / Instrumentation / Bioinformatics / Business Economics / Radiology / Nursing / Tourism / Advertising etc are not eligible to apply for the B.Ed Program.

If a candidate having any of these degrees applies for Common Entrance Test for B.Ed. Program, he / she will not be allowed to appear in the test and if by default, he or she appears in the test, the admission will not be granted to such candidate.

For Post Graduates :

(a) Candidates having done post-graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University and having studied any one of the following subjects :-

  1. English
  2. Hindi
  3. Sanskrit
  4. Physics
  5. Chemistry
  6. Mathematics
  7. Biology
  8. Botany
  9. Zoology
  10. Biotechnology
  11. Life Science
  12. Chemistry
  13. Accountancy
  14. Business Studies
  15. History
  16. Political Science
  17. Economics
  18. Geography
  19. Psychology

Note :

  1. The candidates will be allotted one of the teaching from the subjects listed above provided the same is being offered by the institute / college where the candidate seeks to take admission.
  2. The candidates who have passed a paper either in Botany or in Zoology or in Biotechnology or in Bio- Chemistry or Life Science will be eligible to take Biology as one of the teaching subjects.
  3. The second teaching subject can be chosen either from the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at post – graduation level or graduation level.

Note : As per GGSIP University rules widows / war widows / wards of defence personnel will be allowed 5% relaxation of marks in the minimum eligibility requirement.

AWES CWAT 2016 Age Limit :

As per the GGSIP University rules the candidates applying for B.Ed. course should be below 35 years of age as on 01st August, 2016. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to a maximum of five years in exceptional cases by the competent authority in the university, if he / she is satisfied with the merit of the case. Candidates exceeding the upper age limit up to five years may provisionally apply / appear in the Combined Written Admission Test.

These candidates would, however, be required to submit to the satisfaction of the institute / university in regard to the reasons for the gap period e.g. the details of the period spent by him / her after passing the qualifying examination to justify the upper age exceeding the prescribed limit at the time of admission / counseling. The institute will admit these candidates to the course subject to the approval to be accorded by the University for Relaxation of age in their case.

Note :

  • Theory courses and practicum mentioned above are as notified in the Admission Bulletin 2015 – 17 issued by the GGSIP University. The theory courses and practicum for the year 2016 – 18, may change subject to the decision of the affiliating university. In case of any change in any of the theory courses and practicum declared by the GGSIP University for the year 2016 – 18, the B.Ed. course in Army Institute of Education will be run as per the new theory courses and practicum to be laid down by the University for Admission to the B.Ed. Course for the year 2016 – 18.
  • The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. However, in case, the result of the qualifying examination for such candidates is not declared till the date of counseling / admission the admission in their case will be provisional. These candidates will be required to submit an undertaking that they are taking provisional admission at their own risk and they would be submitting their result to the institute as per the date to be notified by the GGSIP University. In case such candidates fail to submit the result of their qualifying examination to the institute by such date, their admission to the course will be treated as null and void and the entire fee paid by them will be forfeited.

Candidates will be asked to fill their choice for the examination center they wish to appear for the CWAT. As far as possible, the examination centers will be allotted to the candidates as per their first / second choice.

However, in the event of minimum number of candidates not being available at a particular center, the organizers have a right to allot any other center to the candidate. In such a case, attempt will be made to allot the examination center closer to the candidate’s first / second choice. However, the test center once allotted will be final and no request for its change will be entertained.
