Rajendra Agricultural University invites application for admission to BSc Home Science Program for the academic year 2016 – 2017.

RAU BSc Eligibility 2016

  • Only female candidates are eligible.
  • The candidate must be a permanent resident /domicile of the State of Bihar.
  • The candidate must have completed a minimum of 17 years of age on 1st July, 2016.
  • Minimum qualification required for admission to B.Sc. ( Home Science ) shall be Intermediate in Science i.e. 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics ( PCM ) or Physics, Chemistry and Biology ( PCB ) from a recognized Board / University.
  • The candidate who is appearing in the Intermediate / +2 or equivalent examination is also eligible to apply for admission and appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination. However she must complete the requirement on or before 15th June, 2016.
  • The cutoff date for passing intermediate examination shall be 15th June, 2016.

RAU BSc Seats 2016

RAU Allocation of Seats :

Approved intake capacity is 25 ( seats ) in B.Sc. ( Home Science ) program out of which :

  • 85% seats i.e. total 21 seats shall be filled up through the RAU Competitive Entrance Examination conducted for admission to B.Sc. ( Home Science ) for DOMICILE OF BIHAR.
  • Rest 15% seats ( i.e. total 04 seats ) shall be filled up through ICAR Entrance test.

RAU Reservation of Seats :

Seats shall be reserved for S.C., S.T., EBC, BC and other category of students as per reservation policy of the Government of Bihar and as cited below :

The candidate who are aspiring to get seats under disabled quota should apply expressing their claims for the same alongwith valid disability certificate. The seat(s) under this quota will be filled according to Government of Bihar rules.

The candidate, seeking the benefit for reservation under disabled quota should present herself before a Medical board comprising of at least one expert/specialist from the specialty of orthopedics from State Medical Board in the state of Bihar and obtain a valid disability certificate from the Medical board having been issued within three months prior to presenting her application for seeking admission by claiming the benefit of reservation.

In case, there are not enough number of candidates, who qualify themselves for admission against reserved seats under disabled quota of any category, the consequent vacant seats shall be merged with the seats of respective category.

(b) By post from the office of Dean, Home Science & Coordinator ( Examination ), Rajendra. Agricutural University, Pusa , Dist – Samastipur, Pin – 848125 by sending a written request with DD of Punjab National Bank of   550.00 for General, EBC, BC and others and Rupee 250/- for SC & ST category. DD must be drawn in favour of Comptroller, Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa payable at Punjab National Bank, RAU, Pusa Branch. A self addressed 30 cmX 25 cm envelope pasted with postage stamp of Rupee 50/- only needs to be enclosed with the request for sending the application form. 4th April, 2016 to 4th May, 2016

RAU BSc 2016 Admit Card

RAU Admit card will be dispatched latest by 25th May, 2016 Duplicate admit card will be issued on the day of the examination at 9.30 A.M. from the office of the Dean, Home Science & Co – ordinator ( Examination ), R.A.U., Pusa. Two duly attested photograph by the Head of the School / College last attended and proof of application submission have to be provided by the candidate for getting a duplicate admit card.

RAU BSc Counselling 2016 

The students called for counseling should bring ( original and two sets of attested photocopies ) of the following documents :

  1. Proof of date of birth
  2. Matriculation ( Class X ) or equivalent certificate and mark sheet
  3. 10+2 / Intermediate Examination Certificate and mark sheet
  4. Certificate of caste wherever applicable to support category of reservation issued by competent authority.
  5. Certificate of domicile of Bihar issued by the competent authority.
  6. Character certificate issued from the institution last attended by the student.
  7. Admit card issued for appearing in the competitive examination.
  8. Medical certificate of fitness.
  9. Any other certificate as required by the University.

If any document submitted by the candidate is found to be false at any stage during her stay in the University, her admission will be cancelled.

Note : Calling for counseling does not guarantee admission,. Admission will be done through merit and availability of seats. University shall not be responsible for any postal delay at any stage. RAU PG 2016 Eligibility Requirements

Candidates possessing the minimum eligibility qualifications shall be eligible for admission to the respective Master Degree Program, provided they fulfill the following conditions and qualify in the written test and secure a place in the merit list.

  1. 60% marks in aggregate in Bachelor Degree Program. In case of SC & ST candidate 55% marks in aggregate.
  2. The cut off marks for admission to Master Degree program in the merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in entrance examination and academic marks will be 40% for SC / ST candidates and 45% for others ( Unreserved, BC, EBC, and RCG candidates ).

RAU PG 2016 Examination Scheme

Candidates appearing in Competitive Test for Admission to Agriculture ( Code 01 to 04 ), Agricultural Engineering ( Code 05 ), Home Science ( 06 ) and Horticulture ( 07 ) stream will have to appear in Competitive Test Examination of two and half hours duration of the respective subject group paper which will carry 150 marks.

The candidates will have to select only one group bearing separate code number from the under mentioned groups for admission to Master Degree Programs. Admission would be allowed to the selected candidates in any of the subjects shown in the group that they have opted and appeared for in the Competitive Test Examination. Candidates will not have any option to choose more than one group.

RAU PG 2016 Admit Card

Provisional Admit Card for the Competitive Test Examination to be conducted on 26th June, 2016 will be sent by Registered / speed post well in advance to all eligible candidates, who have submitted their application form complete in all respect by the due date. Those who do not get the Admit Card may approach the office of the Registrar on 25th June, 2016 for issue of Duplicate Admit Card.

A duplicate copy of Admit card will be issued on payment of Rupee 10.00 if the original is lost by the candidate for which two photographs duly attested by the head of the Institution last attended and proof of application submission will have to be provided by the Candidate himself / herself.

Resource Management Group ( Code – 01 )

Agronomy : Crop classification and seasons of their production; cropping system – concept of multiple cropping, mixed cropping, relay and inter – cropping and their importance in relation to food production, package of practices of production of important cereals like Rice, Maize, Wheat, Pulses like Red gram, Gram, Green Gram, Sugarcane and Jute; Oilseeds like Rapeseed mustard and Groundnut. Objectives and importance in crop production, factors and elements of weather and climate, climate change and crop production, weather forecasting, methods of irrigation, and water requirements of principal crops, drainage and its significance; types and causes of soil erosion and their control; common weeds of principal crops and their control measures, different types of herbicides and their modes of application agro – forestry in farming system.

Plant Protection Group ( Code – 02 )

Plant Protection ( Plant Pathology, Entomology, and Nematology ) : Importance of fungi to man; general characteristics, life cycle and classification of fungi, important diseases of major crop plants and their control measures. Bacterial diseases and their control measures. Major insect – pests in principal crops and their control; pesticide uses, formulations, selection, compatibility, safety, precaution and hazards. Importance of nematodes in agriculture, general characteristic classification and systematic position of nematodes. Important nematode diseases with special reference to root – knot, cyst, reniform, lesion, citrus and ear-cockle nematodes of major crops their symptoms and management. General control of nematode disorder in plants.

Crop Improvement Group ( Code – 03 )

1. Plant Breeding and Genetics : Mendelian inheritance, interaction of genes, variation and its causes, determination of sex, sex linked inheritance, use of mutation in crop improvement, various methods of breeding – self, cross and asexually propagated plants, hybridization methods and uses. Heterosis, characteristics of quality seeds, maintenance of purity and multiplications of seeds, foundation seeds and certified seeds.

RAU PG Counselling 2016

Candidates called for counselling will be required to submit following documents in original with one attested photocopy of the same

  1. High School / equivalent examination mark sheet as well as certificate for proof of age.
  2. Intermediate / equivalent examination mark sheet.
  3. Bachelor Degree Examination Mark sheet / Transcript and Provisional Degree Certificate or Degree Certificate.
  4. Caste certificate issued by the District Magistrate / SDO / CO ( in case candidates claiming reservation ).
  5. Character Certificate from Head of the Institution last attended.
  6. Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
  7. Conversion formula for conversion of OGPA into percentage of marks and vice – versa adopted by the University from where candidate has obtained degree certificate.

Counselling does not guarantee admission. It depends on merit and availability of seats in a particular discipline. In case, candidates fail to attend the counselling on the prescribed date & time, his / her candidature shall automatically be rejected.

Note : No separate letter will be issued for attending the counselling.

RAU PG 2016 Merit list

The merit list shall be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained by the candidates in Entrance Examination Test – cum Academic Performance and selection will be made as per availability of seats and roster taking into consideration the following criteria :

Choice of Program

The candidate after their selection shall be given the option to choose the discipline from among subject of their respective group in order of merit only at the time of counselling.

Breaking of tie

For determining the merit of candidates in case of a tie, performance at Bachelor Degree level examination will form the criteria. If performance at Degree level were equal, their age would determine the priority.

RAU PhD Eligibility 2016

Candidates possessing the minimum eligibility qualifications, i.e. mentioned in section V shall be eligible for admission to the respective Ph.D. Program, provided they fulfill the following conditions and qualify in the written test and secure a place in the merit list.

  1. 65% marks or OGPA 6.5 / 10 in Masters degree program in the subject concerned ( SC & ST candidate should have secured 60% marks or OGPA 6.0 / 10 in the subject concerned ).
  2. The cut off marks for admission to Ph.D. Program in the merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in entrance examination and academic marks will be 40% for SC / ST candidates and 45% for others ( Unreserved, BC, EBC, and RCG candidates ).

Sale of RAU PhD Application Form & Prospectus

  1. Sale of application form only through Demand draft of Rupee 800/- for General, EBC, BC & others and Rupee 400/- for SC & ST category from the office of the Registrar, RAU, Pusa - 11th April, 2016 to 9th May, 2016
  2. By post from the office of the Registrar, Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa ( Samastipur ) – 848 125 Bihar, by sending a written request with Demand Draft of Punjab National Bank of Rupee 800/- for General, EBC, BC & others and Rupee 400/- for SC & ST category with a self-addressed 30 cm x 25 cm envelop pasted with postage stamp of Rupee 39/- only. The Demand Draft should be in favour of Comptroller, Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa payable at Punjab National Bank, RAU, Pusa Branch - 11th April, 2016 to 9th May, 2016.

The In – service candidates should submit their application through proper channel in accordance with the rules / regulation of the University made for the purpose.

RAU Procedure for Applying

(i) A candidate can apply for admission to only one subject. No change would be allowed thereafter.

(ii) The application form along with Admit Card, self – addressed envelope bearing postal stamps of Rupee 50/- only, and filled neatly and correctly by the applicant should be forwarded with necessary sets of attested copies of the documents viz. High School Certificate as a proof of date of birth, mark sheet of 10th, 12th, Bachelor and Master Degree Examinations and Caste certificate if applicable so as to reach the Registrar, Rajendra Agricultural University, Bihar, Pusa ( Samastipur ) – 848 125 on or before the last date i.e. 16th May, 2016 by Registered Post / speed post. Any application received after the last date shall not be entertained. If any date is declared as holiday, next working date will be effective date ( only for sale and submission of application form ). University shall not be responsible for any postal delay.

(iii) The candidate who is appearing in the Masters Degree Examination is also eligible to apply provisionally for admission and appear in the Competitive Test Examination. However, he / she must submit the PDC and transcript / Mark sheet on or before 12th July, 2016, positively in the office of the Registrar, RAU, Pusa.

(iv) In – service candidate must submit his / her application through proper channel.

(v) If a candidate furnishes wrong information or suppresses any relevant information, his / her admission will be cancelled.

(vi) Candidate must enclose attested copies of the following certificates ( whichever is applicable ) and documents in the order indicated below. The candidature of the candidate who fails to attach Xerox copies of certificates will not be considered. If selected, candidate has to submit original certificates at the time of counselling.

  2. Matriculation ( Class X ) or equivalent certificate and marks sheet.
  3. 10+2 / Intermediate Examination certificate and marks sheet.
  4. Bachelor Degree Certificate and marks sheet / transcript.

RAU PhD 2016 Admit Card

Provisional Admit Card for the Competitive Test Examination to be conducted on 25th June, 2016 will be sent by Registered / speed post well in advance to all eligible candidates, who have submitted their application form complete in all respect by the due date. Those who do not get the Admit Card may approach the office of the Registrar on 24th June, 2016 for issue of Duplicate Admit Card.

A duplicate copy of Admit card will be issued on payment of Rupee 10.00 if the original is lost by the candidate for which two photographs duly attested by the head of the Institution last attended and proof of application submission will have to be provided by the Candidate himself / herself.
