CERTIFICATE DIPLOMA AND ADVANCED DIPLOMA COURSES: Certificate Courses:Passed 10+2 of CBSE or an exam, recognised as equivalent thereto with at least 45% marks in aggregate. Diploma Courses:Certificate holders in the language concerned of the Delhi University or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission in Diploma Courses in the respective language. The candidates who have obtained their Certificate in the language or equivalent qualification one-year earlier than the year of admission, are required to appear in an admission test to be conducted by the Department. Advanced Diploma Courses:Diploma holders in the language concerned from Delhi University or an exam recognised as equivalent thereto are eligible to apply for admission to Advanced Course in the respective language. The admission is made strictly in order of merit of the respective Diploma Course. The candidates who have obtained their Diploma in the language or equivalent qualification One-year earlier than the year of admission are required to appear in an admission test to be conducted by the Department. B.A.(Hons) Courses:10+2 CBSE, New Delhi or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with at least 50% in aggregate. Procedure for admission:Through an aptitude -test M.A. Courses in German/French/Hispanic/Italian Studies: Eligibility:Graduation (10+2+3) in the language or literature concerned with 40% marks OR Graduation (10+2+3) in any other subject with 40% marks plus 3 year Advanced Diploma Course (Part-time) in the respective language of the University of Delhi or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto and Entrance Test (Written and Oral). Procedure for Admission:Application form can be had from the office of the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies (Arts Faculty Building) Room No.37, University of Delhi, on payment of requisite charges. Important:Candidates desirous of seeking admission to these courses viz; Certificate in French/German, Diploma in French/German are advised to contact the Principal of the concerned college directly. RUSSIAN LANGUAGE Certificate in Russian - 1-year course Certificate course in Russian is also conducted at J.D.M., J.M.C., Vocational, Aurobindo (E) and Lady Sri Ram Colleges, besides north Campus (at Faculty of Arts). Serbian and Slovak languages:Passed 10+2 with at least 45% marks in aggregate. The admission is made strictly in order of merit, based on the degree/certificate obtained by the candidate in each of the following category: Category-I Postgraduate; Category-II Graduate; Category-III 10+2. For Diploma/Advanced Diploma Courses :Minimum qualification is Certificate/Diploma in the language concerned respectively. The candidates who have earlier than the year of admission are required to appear in an admission test to be conducted by the Department. Nature of Entrance Test for admission to Intensive (Full-Time) Advanced Diploma Course and M.A. (Russian). The test is aimed at ascertaining the aptitude of students for the language and his/her knowledge of the language, culture, history and other aspects of Russia/Bulgaria. The entrance test is held on the date and time as notified by the Department M. A. Course in Russian Studies:Eligibility for admission: Graduation in Russian language and literature. Graduation in any subject plus 3-year Advanced Diploma course in Russian/One-year Intensive (Full-Time) Advanced Diploma in Russian Course of the University of Delhi or an equivalent course thereto. Admission is made through entrance Test. M..Phil. in Russian and other subjects of the Department: Duration: 1 year.Eligibility: Good academic record with a first or high second class (equivalent Grade). Master's Degree or an equivalent Degree of foreign University in the subject concerned. Admission to all these courses is based on certain minimum qualifications and an aptitude test and/or interview. 1-Year Certificate Course in Chinese Language Part-time).Eligibility: Senior School Certificate of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or an equivalent qualification. 1-year Diploma Course in Chinese Language Part-Time)Eligibility:Certificate in Chinese Language issued by the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification. 1-year Advanced Diploma in Chinese Language (Part-time)Eligibility: 2-year Certificate pr Diploma in Chinese Language issued by the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification. 2-year Diploma Course in Japanese Language Part-time)Eligibility: Senior School Certificate from the C.B.S.E., New Delhi or an equivalent qualification. 1-year Advanced Diploma in Japanese Language Part Time)Eligibility: Diploma in Japanese language issued by the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification. 1-year Certificate Course is Korean language Part-Time)Eligibility: Senior School Certificate of the C.B.S.E., New Delhi or an equivalent qualification. 1-year Diploma Course in Korean language Part-Time)Eligibility: Certificate in Korean languages. 1-year Advanced Diploma Course in Korean language Part-Time)Eligibility: Diploma in Korean language. 1-year Intensive Advanced Diploma in Japanese (Full-Time):The course is equivalent to Two year Diploma Course in Japanese Language (Part-Time). The Course begins in August and concludes in March/April after completing 500 hours of teaching which includes the time spent in language laboratory drills. Eligibility: A Bachelor's Degree (Under 10+2+3 Scheme) from the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate. Students who obtain a minimum of 50% marks in each of the written papers, 50% marks in the audio-oral test and 50% marks in the internal assessment are declared to have successfully completed with course. Those who obtain 75% marks or above in the aggregate are declared to have passed with distinction. 1-year Post-intensive Adv. Diploma Course in Chinese language Full-Time)This is the second year of intensive training course designed for those who already have done three years of part time or one year of intensive course in Chinese. The course begins in August and concludes after the completion of 300 teaching hours. Classes of three hours duration are held five days a week. Eligibility: One Year Intensive Advanced Diploma in Chinese (Full Time) or One Year Advanced Diploma in Chinese language (Part time) from the University of Delhi or equivalent qualification. In addition, the student must have Bachelor's Degree (Under 10+2+3 scheme) from the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 45 % marks in the aggregate. One-year Post-Intensive Advance Diploma in Japanese (Full-Time)The aim of the course is to train those students in Japanese language who are interested in undertaking research on some aspect of Japan including Japanese language. Eligibility: A Bachelor's degree (Under 10+2+3 scheme) from the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 45 % marks in the aggregate. In addition, one-year Intensive Advanced Diploma Course in Japanese Language of the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification. M.A. in Japanese (Full-time):Duration of the Course: Two academic years spread over four semesters. The first semester starts in August and end in December and the second starts in January and ends in April. The third semester starts in July and end in December and the fourth starts in January and ends in April of the next year. Eligibility for admission: A Bachelor's degree (Under 10+2+3 scheme) from the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 45 % marks in the aggregate; and the minimum standard of Japanese Language equivalent to One-Year Post-Intensive Advance Diploma Course offered in the University of Delhi or an equivalent qualification. OR A Bachelor's Degree in Japanese Language from a University in India or a foreign University with minimum 15 years of education with 50% marks or above in aggregate. AND An entrance test and interview is held for all the candidates. M.Phil in Chinese and Japanese Studies (eighteen months full-time course) and Ph.D. courses are also offered.
