College of Fire Technology in Ahmedabad offers a B.Sc Course in Fire. It also offers ITI Courses in Fireman and Safety and Security courses. Professional training in fire fighting, safety, protection and engineering are also available.
The college, affiliated to the Gujarat University, has a tie – up with the Lancashire University, the United Kingdom, for exchange of students. It has a memorandum of understanding with Leeds University, the U.K.

Disaster Management :
“Today, disaster management is getting due recognition.
The field requires professionals who can handle these jobs efficiently. Fire Professionals can get placed in the defence, railways, airport authority, electricity companies, mines, refineries, gas plants, municipal bodies, and also in corporate sectors”.
There is a huge demand in the country for qualified personnel to work in the fire services. India is making rapid progress in all sectors. Hence, stringent laws and measures are being given importance in matters of safety and security.
The special degree and ITI course will give students the technical know – how to get an edge over science graduates who have been handling these jobs so far.
The eligibility criterion for the degree course is a Plus – Two in science.
The course will be for three years. Medium of Instruction will be English and will cost 50,000/- a year.
Those who wish to pursue the fireman course should have a SSC or equivalent certificate.
The course will be of a years duration (nine months of theory and three months of training). Medium of Instruction will be Gujarati / Hindi. Fee will be 28,000/-.
The Safety and Security Course will also require a SSC certificate. It will be a one year course and will cost 20,000/-.
