With time and technology, novel forms or art such as digital art, film making, and multimedia have enabled an artist to broaden his perspectives. A career in fine arts not only involves the creation or study of artwork, but includes a business oriented marketing aspect as well.

A variety of mediums can be used to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings. These may include painting, sculpting, or illustration and an assortment of materials, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, pencils, pen and ink, plaster, clay and computers.

The final results however, are as interpreted by the master behind the work. He may like it to be realistic, stylized, or abstract to depict objects, people, nature, or events.

Art as a course at the college or university level, typically begins by focusing on the fundamentals of art. Most students learn about drawing, sculpting, painting, and more in their first two years of a program.

By the third year, they select a concentration to focus on throughout the remainder of their college years. During this time, they study specific aspects of their selected concentration and prepare for a career within their specialization.

What’s best for you?

While deciding on an institution and program, you should give a great deal of thought on what you want to do after obtaining your degree; make sure that your top choices contain programs that prepare you for what you want to do after graduation.
