The candidates with a Bachelor Degree with at least one life science subject are eligible for the courses 1 to 12 above, whereas graduates in all disciplines ( except oriental languages ) are eligible for course 13 & 14. These courses are offered by different hospitals, in affiliation to Osmania University.

M.Sc exams in Osmania University have been rescheduled, which will now be held from 22nd April, 2013. Exams of MA, M.Com, M.P.Ed, MSW, B.LI.Sc, M.LI.Sc, BCJ and MCJ of campus, constituent and affiliated colleges will be held from 16th April, 2013 as per schedule.
Osmania University gives Lessons in Spoken English
The Directorate of Placement Services, Osmania University has started a 25 – day programme on “English Conversational Skills” for post – graduate students of Department of Commerce, Osmania University.
V.Kishan Rao, Registrar, Osmania University, who was the Chief Guest emphasised on the importance of the communication skills and asked students to increase their confidence, will power and commitment to learn. Sumita Roy, Director, OU Centre for International Programmes said that students need to shed their inhibitions and come out of their comfort zone and start speaking in English.
K.V.Achalapathi, Director, Directorate of Placement Services, OU said the programme would impart training in soft skills with a focus on conversational skills in English to instil and increase confidence levels in the students to confidently converse.
G.Laxman, Head, Department of Commerce said that first generation students were good in domain knowledge and if training was provided in English they will rock the world.
Osmania University is offering four – months compressed Junior, Senior Diploma courses in French and German. Eligibility for Junior Diploma is a pass in Intermediate while 50 per cent marks at Junior Diploma or in second language at Graduation is the pre – requisite for Senior Diploma. The applications are available at the University Press and the last date for submission of applications in the Departments concerned is 7th December, 2012.
Protest at Osmania University delays APSET Results
Students at Osmania University held a Protest demanding changes in the eligibility criteria delayed the announcement of A.P.State Eligibility Test ( APSET ) on 4th October, 2012. University’s Vice Chancellor confide to his lodge by a group of students when he was getting ready to release the results. These students belonged to the Telangana Vidyarthi Parishad ( TVP ).
The protest was held for about three hours. In the mean time the VC had tried to convince the students that the norms were framed by the University Grants Commission ( UGC ) and altering them was impossible, but students did not give up the protest.
Other Senior Teachers from the University who reached the venue also tried to impress upon them that APSET was a prestigious exam given to the OU and such protests would only harm the university’s image. But students were insisting on changing the norms before the release of results itself.
The major demand was to reduce the minimum eligibility mark for SC / ST and BC students. Other student groups were, however, in favor of the release of results. After a long time, when finally VC agrees to take up this issue with the higher authorities if the students gave a representation. The representatives of other students groups also joined a submitted a representation with their demands like reducing the overall cut – off percentage, working out separate cut – off percentage for every subject and reimplementation of reservations in deciding the eligibility in each subject.
Among the 96,954 students who attended for the test in 24 subjects, 32,655 candidates secured more than the minimum qualifying mark. However, only 8,004 were declared eligible for Assistant Professorship and Lectureship. The cut – off percentage was decided by a committee consisting of UGC representatives and Vice Chancellors of some State universities. This tear the cut – offs percentage was 65% for General candidates, 60% for BC candidates and 55% for SC / ST and Physically challenged.
The cut offs were said to be higher for Telugu, Education and Physical Education due to high number of qualified candidates. In such case, the cut off percentage is increased to ensure that not more than 25% of the appeared candidates get eligibility.
PG Diploma and Advanced PG Diploma Courses Counselling

The Osmania University region has registered an impressive performance in the UGC National Eligibility Test ( NET ) results with 764 candidates getting eligibility for the lecturership and 40 candidates getting the Junior Research Fellowship ( JRF ). The exam was held on 24th June, 2012 this year.
An analysis of the UGC – NET results released on 19th September, 2012 revealed that the performance has improved over the last examinations held in December 2011. In the last exam around 360 candidates got eligibility for lecturership.
“This year 21,437 candidates appeared for the test of which 764 got eligibility for lecturership and another 40 for JRF,” said T. Krishna Rao, UGC Coordinator for the exam and the Director of Examinations, OU.
Prof. Krishna Rao said that management stream contributed maximum with 183 lecturership candidates and nine JRFs followed by 133 and 11 candidates respectively in the Telugu subject. Other subjects where the numbers are high, include Commerce ( 68 and 1 ), Hindi ( 52 and 4 ), Economics ( 35 and 1 ), English ( 27 and 3 ), Sociology ( 22 and 1 ), Education ( 21 and 1 ), Library and Information Science ( 21 and 1 ) and Electronic Science ( 19 and 1 ).
In the Computer Science and Applications subject 3,318 candidates tested their luck but only five candidates qualified for lecturership and none for JRF.
Over 2,000 candidates appeared in Management, Telugu and English subjects.
Teachers attribute the high number of successful candidates to the changed exam pattern. From this year negative marking has been done away with while the third paper, which was descriptive till last year, was also changed to objective type.
The first paper of General Knowledge is common for all the subjects, while the second and third papers test the candidates exclusively in the chosen subject.
Moreover, till last year the third paper was valued only if the candidate cleared the first two papers.
Osmania University announces New Dates for postponed Examinations
Osmania University Hyderabad has announced the new dates for the postponed examinations of 13 August 2012. A press release announced the new dates and stated that there are no changes in the Examination Centers & Timings.
