National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences through Online Exam

As many as 102 candidates have been selected for postgraduate courses in psychiatry, psychology, psychiatric social work and doctoral programmes at NIMHANS through its first – ever multi – centre online entrance examination conducted in February.

NIMHANS Director P. Satishchandra told press peoples on 4th April, 2012 that the online system was adopted to bring in transparency in the conduct of examinations.

“It is for the first time that a government institution has conducted online exams. A Centre for Online Examination ( COE ) has been set up at the institute for effective simultaneous monitoring of exams held in various centres,” he said.

“The COE has been set up with servers and towers to enable monitoring at individual level. Sitting in Bangalore, we can get a clear picture of which candidate is attempting which question at which centre. This is a fool – proof system, which has also been appreciated by the candidates. They feel it helps in saving time,” the director said.

The exams were held on 26th February, 2012 in eight cities including Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Bhopal.

As many as 4,500 students had appeared for the examinations.
