Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER www.iiserpune.ac.in), established under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, houses state-of-the-art research facilities in all branches of science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology).

IISER faculty are engaged in research in frontier and interdisciplinary areas of science.

Applications from Indian nationals are invited for research program scheduled to commence from August 2008 in the following areas of basic sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria: First Class or 60% marks (55% for SC / ST) in M.Sc. in Chemistry / Physics / Biochemistry /Material Science/ Life Sciences /Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science or M. Stat or equivalent.

Students with B. Tech. or equivalent degree in Engineering Physics / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering /B.Pharma / M.Pharma / MBBS degree may also apply for research programs in Physics and Life Sciences.

Other criteria: The applicants should have qualified through NET / GATE / JEST or equivalent examination and the selected students with valid score are eligible for fellowship from USER Pune.

Students with valid UGC-CSIR JRF are eligible for fellowship directly from UGC or CSIR. Candidates must attend the interview before selection for doctoral program, the dates of which would be informed to the short-listed candidates.

Candidates who have appeared for qualifying degree examination are eligible to apply, and must submit the attested qualifying degree certificates / final transcripts before joining (Deadline: 30th September, 2008).

Age: Not more than 28 years as on 1st August 2008 (Born on / after 01.08.1980). Age will be relaxed by 5 years for SC / ST candidates.

Letter of recommendation in the enclosed format, downloaded from website www.iiserpune.ac.in Note, incomplete application form will not be considered.

The application form can be downloaded from www.iiserpune.ac.in or requested by post by enclosing a self- addressed envelope (size 27 cms X 20 cms) affixed with postage stamps of Rs.30/- before 5th May 2008.
